That's around the 4% Instagram average covari's pricing model uses.
Calculated as (likes + comments) ÷ followers. Platforms count engagement in slightly different ways, so treat this as an estimate.
How do you calculate engagement rate?
Add up the likes, comments and (if you track them) shares and saves on a typical post, divide by your follower count and multiply by 100. For example, 800 likes and 60 comments on an account with 20,000 followers is (800 + 60) ÷ 20,000 × 100 = 4.3%. Use averages across your last 10 or so posts rather than one post.
What is a good engagement rate?
It depends on the platform. covari's pricing model uses 4% for Instagram, 7% for TikTok and 3.5% for YouTube as typical rates. Above those, the model prices your posts higher; below them, lower. Smaller accounts often have higher rates than large ones.
Why does engagement rate matter for brand deals?
It shows how many of your followers actually respond to what you post. When covari matches creators to a brand's campaign and suggests a fair price, engagement rate is one of the inputs alongside followers, niche and platform. Connecting your accounts lets covari use your real numbers instead of typed ones.
Should I count views?
This calculator uses followers, which works the same way on every platform. On YouTube and TikTok, where many viewers don't follow you, engagement per view can also be useful; divide interactions by average views instead of followers to see it.
