How to set your rates

Where covari's suggested rates come from, how campaign offers are priced, and how to answer an offer.

You don't publish a price

covari listings have no rate card. Brands send you an offer with their budget, and you accept it, decline it, or suggest different terms. Your price is set deal by deal.

Your suggested rates

My Value (under Tools) shows suggested rates based on your followers, engagement rate and niche. They're a starting point, not a price list: you set your actual price when you answer an offer.

The free Creator Pricing Calculator gives the same kind of estimate without an account. It works in three steps:

  1. It estimates how many people see a post from your followers and how far posts typically reach on that platform.
  2. It multiplies those views by a typical price per thousand views on that platform.
  3. It adjusts for your engagement rate compared with the platform's average, and for your niche. Some niches, such as finance, command more than others.

You get a low, a recommended and a high figure. The range matters more than the single number.

How campaign offers are priced

When a brand runs a campaign, covari works out a fair-market range for each matched creator and drafts the offer at the recommended rate, never above the top of the range. The brand can change the offer before sending it, and covari flags offers above the range to the brand.

So a campaign offer starts from what your numbers support. If it doesn't work for you, that's what suggesting different terms is for.

Answering an offer

Every offer shows the deliverables, the dates, the payment and what you receive after covari's 5% fee. Your options:

  • Accept it. The brand's payment is then secured through Stripe and held for you.
  • Suggest different terms. You send back your own version of the offer, and the brand can accept it or respond.
  • Decline it.

A few habits that help:

  • Compare the offer with your My Value range before you answer.
  • Price each deliverable, not the deal as a whole. If the budget is fixed, suggesting fewer deliverables is often easier for a brand to accept than a higher price.
  • Check the dates. A price that works for two weeks may not work for two days.
  • Keep the conversation in Messages so there's a record of what you agreed.

An offer that reaches you by email before you've joined covari can only be accepted or declined. Once you're on covari, you can suggest different terms on every offer.
